Oh Miss River! She is a spunky 1 year old, female, Treeing Walker Hound. This girl has a heart of gold, loves to snuggle, and can be a bit of a dork!
River is crate trained and walks well on a leash. She likes to stash her toys in her crate (We think this is the cutest thing ever). She has grasped the concept of potty training and she understands and uses the dog door in her foster home perfectly.
River loves to go on walks and enjoys sniffing and exploring her world. Did we mention she rides well in the car?! After being displaced three separate times and her last person dying, River was lacking some basic dawg skills. And while she is still young, she is a fast learner who is eager to please. She just wants a home where she can stay, FOREVER!
Dixie River gets along well with her canine foster brothers and sisters. She does require a confident handler that can properly introduce her to new dogs. Otherwise her confidence can be shaken and the introduction can go sour quickly. NO CATS PLEASE.
River’s perfect home will have a six foot securely fence yard. No children under the age of 10. Her family will provide her with daily exercise outside the home such as walks or running. No off leash activity for this girl. She’ll follow her nose as far as it takes her. This should be a consideration for interested parties that camp and hike a lot. She will always need to be on a leash with you when outdoors. Her family will also have a canine companion that can match her energy level when it comes to playing and that will show her the ropes. NO APARTMENT STYLE/TOWNHOUSE LIVING PLEASE.
