Meet Handsome Hank the Boerboel! Hank is docile and loving with a playful side that will make you laugh. He loves to be close to his humans once he bonds to them! Hank is currently learning how to walk on-leash with the help of a gentle leader, and he has learned the basic commands of sit and down.
Hank arrived from Southern Colorado a few weeks ago to join the MFDM family. Hank is very sweet, and wants to be loved and to show affection, but he is scared when meeting new humans. If you take the time to approach him slowly and let him know you can be trusted, you will be rewarded with a silly smile that will touch your heart!
What is a Boerbeol?
This video is a great introduction to this very special breed. We encourage you to watch it to learn more about why we chose to take Hank under our umbrella, and what you might expect when asking this handsome giant to join your family:
Hank’s Wants and Needs
Hank is a large boy with a large appetite. He needs high quality food and lots of it. He is great with kids and female dogs!! His perfect people will allow him to be indoors and integrate him completely into their lives.
Hank is learning to be friends with other dogs in his home. Because of his size, and his cautious approach to others, he will need a six foot, securely fenced backyard, with no apartment style living for this guy. Hank is not a candidate for dog parks or heavily trafficked hiking trails.
Hank wants to be connected to his people, like a giant velcro dog. Because of this intense love for his humans Hank should not be left alone for a long period of time. The Boerboel breed is extremely powerful. If they feel distressed or anxious they can do a lot of damage to your home!
Hank asks that his new family to continue his work with our dog coach to ensure that everyone understands Hank’s training. He’s done so well so far, and he wants his people to continue to help him be successful with his training.
Hank is currently being fostered in Lakewood, Colorado. He is up to date on his vaccinations, chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered.
