Add One part explorer + One part tender heart + One part loving friend + One part playful…
Add One part explorer + One part tender heart + One part loving friend + One part playful…
If you mix these all together you get Banks! Banks is playful, spontaneous and loves making her people laugh. A Bloodhound that likes to play with a ball is a rarity, let alone retrieve it. This girl LOVES LOVES LOVES to play ball. It’s a great way to redirect her attention when she fixates on a squirrel. She’ll remember where she left it and go find it, AND she’ll let you take the ball from her to throw it. The only thing that Banks loves more than playing ball is playing in the water with her person!
Are you willing to step up to the challenge of having the smartest dog in the neighborhood?
This girl is not a good candidate for off leash activities, and absolutely needs a secure yard with a six-foot fence and a lock on the gate. She is such a smart girl that she can open any latch on any gate or door. Her Bloodhound genes have put the wanderlust in her heart, so she will follow her nose more than her instinct for self-preservation. Thanks to her smarts, Banks walks really well on a leash and would love to spend time with you exploring her local neighborhood and mountain hiking trails. As long as you’re by her side and have leash in hand, this girl will happily explore far and wide with you!
Banks cannot be a single dog.
She must get exercise every single day – not just physically but mentally as well. If she doesn’t get her energy out, it’ll be a long night of trying to get her to settle down. This is why it’s helpful for her to have a canine sibling that will help assist in entertaining her. She needs a young companion of a decent size that wants to play hard and wrestle. If you have a small or elderly dog that is looking for a companion, Banks is not the dog for you (though we might have other options, check out all our adoptable dogs!)
Banks likes activity and variety!
She rides really well in the car and likes to sit up front with you. Anyone would be lucky to have such a pretty co-pilot. As long as she has canine companionship and lots of toys, Banks can be left unattended without being crated, though her ideal home will have humans that work from home. Her people will take her for walks daily and to daycare 2-3 times per week. They will understand that she does like to bark at squirrels and the UPS gal.
Banks gets along with dogs of most sizes, though she is big and boisterous. This can be too much for the smaller dogs. We are unsure about cats at this time. Kids would be a great addition to her life, as long as they aren’t too little and easily knocked over. Banks is in excellent health and is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. She is currently being fostered in Aurora, Colorado.
