All About Fostering Dogs!

Have you ever wondered what fostering a dog is like? We put together this cute little video to introduce you to the process!

If you are using a screen reader and need captions or translations, here’s what it says:

Fostering Dogs: What to expect with you foster a dog with My Fairy Dawg Mother Rescue

Shelter Stats:

    • 3.3 million dogs enter US shelters each year
    • 1 out of every 10 will find a permanent home
    • 30% are reunited with their owners
    • 20-30% are euthanized

The remaining dogs can spend years in shelters, never knowing what a loving home looks like, until a foster family comes along….

Why Do We Use Foster Families?

A foster family provides a shelter dog with a loving home until they find their forever family. Dogs in shelters tend to develop behavioral issues due to stress. Learning to be family member in a home improves a dog’s adoption success!

    • marketing/promotion help

We take care of:

    • The application process
    • Background checks
    • Collecting fees
    • Initial approvals

No random strangers just dropping by unannounced!

Once someone gets approval to adopt on our dogs, we then pass their info to you set up the meet and greet. You approve them to be your foster pup’s new family. If you don’t like them, you can ask for our help in deciding, or discuss your concerns with us. We listen! You know your foster dog best!

We support you in this entire process, including the hard part of letting go. We will be honest. It IS hard to let go. But loving a dog that much is SO IMPORTANT to their future success.

When you foster a dog, they learn to love and trust humans, and you help them become confident. Every day you work with them to show their best self to a new family. When it comes time to make introductions, you have input during the adoption process, and be sure it is a good fit for everyone. And because you loved this pup, you know your foster dog will succeed in their new home.

Additional Benefits of Fostering:

  • Great way to meet new people and make friends!
  • Great way to volunteer without having to take time away from your home!
  • Provides an excellent example to children!

We do not require weekend events. Instead, include your pup in your regular life, with visits to the coffee shop, ice cream parlor, or other places to show them off.
