Introducing Brooks, or as we have come to know him, Baby Brooks. His muzzle smells like hotcake syrup and he has the disposition to match. He is sweet, sweet, SWEEET!
His large size makes one think that he is a more mature dog but we think Brooks is less than 2 years old. He both plays and sleeps like a puppy. He likes to chew on antlers and loves his peanut butter filled Kongs. You will often find him romping around the house with a plush toy hanging out of his mouth. He loves his stuffies, and doesn’t chew them up.
This boy is so smart! He already knows some commands, including: ‘drop it’, ‘crate’, ‘stay’, ‘wait’, and ‘load up’! He is learning additional vocab every day from his foster family.
Brooks has been to daycare and he loves to play with the smaller dogs. He is great with kids, both young (toddler) and teen. This boy is so gentle and good! He walks well on a leash, puts his shopping cart back after he’s done using it, and he is the King of Cuddles.
Brooks is a gentle giant. He had a rough start, we think, and he needs reassurance from his people that the world isn’t too scary. He follows his foster mom around the house and always wants to be close! In his foster home Brooks is not allowed on the furniture but that is one of his dreams at his adoptive home. He promises he doesn’t wet the bed! He is fully potty trained.
We knew as soon as this boy stepped off of the transport truck that he had a tender soul, one that had been taken advantage of. Brooks is fearful of strangers and takes a few weeks to warm up to new people. He shows his fear by cowering and darting off. He is easily redirected and just needs someone to give him space and guidance in building his confidence, someone special to remind him that has no more bad days ahead!
Here at MFDM we ask that our adopters do not hit or use negative punishment on the dogs. This is especially important in Brooks case.
He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vetted.
