Dog's Name: Jake Ryan
I am a:
No apartment/townhouse style living. No kids under 10 years old.
Jake is a funny and sensitive character. He was rescued from a truck stop in the Midwest after he was found wandering. Jake adores people and is eager to please. He loves to curl up after a long walk. He will grunt as he gets comfortable letting you know he is content.
Jake is potty-trained, and understands how to use a dog door. He requires a six foot, securely fenced yard with room to run. While his fosters work from home they have not observed any tendencies towards destruction or digging in the yard.
Jake still uses a jump to greet people; he is a work in progress. He knows how to sit and is currently working on down and off. To be the best he can be, Jake needs a strong alpha with a gentle hand. He is frightened of loud noises. His perfect home would be an active person/couple that runs, hikes, and walks. They will also be willing to continue working on Jake’s leash skills. He can pull and keeps his head to the ground sniffing things out. No off-leash activity for this guy! He’ll follow his nose as far as it takes him.
Mr. J.R. needs a female canine companion that will show him the ropes, be a good role model, and guide him as he continues to learn. His canine companion will need to be playful, energetic and female. Jake has a fragile male ego and likes being the only male dog.
We would like applicants for Jake to have familiarity with hounds, as they can be stubborn. J.R. will not be a good fit for a first time dog parent.
He needs someone that is willing to put the time in and work him physically and mentality. This person will understand that if structure and love are given to Jake he will flourish.
Jake is currently being fostered in Aurora, Colorado
