Here at MFDM.org we feel very strongly about helping the elderly members of our community find a place for their dogs if they have to make the soul crushing decision to move to assisted living without their dogs.

Sophie and Hope lived with a wonderful and loving human being for the first part of their lives. And then their mama had to make a very hard choice. The kind woman asked her daughter to find a place for this sweet bonded pair to go once she moved to assisted living. We couldn’t bear the thought of them winding up in the shelter AND possibly be separated. And here is where the second half of their life begins.

Sophie and Hope are a dynamic duo that really take their roles as couch potatoes seriously! If you are looking for a netflix binge support group you have found it!

These girls would love nothing more than sitting in the captain’s seat curled up next to you. They won’t even fight you for the remote. Did we mention they aren’t paticular about the type of programming they watch?! Educational? Sure, no problem! Trash TV? Bring it on!

S&H would enjoy a leisurely walk from time to time. Nothing strenuous though. Hiking a 14’er on the weekend is out for this pair unless they are wrapped in sweaters and carried in a dogpack. They should have a medium sized, securely fenced yard where they can be kept safe from local predators like coyotes and hawks-yes they are that tiny.

A dog door would be optimal. But, if you don’t have that type of access, a nice indoor potty station will work too. We also think they would do really well with bell training on the backdoor so they can tell the humans when they need to go outside and attend to business.

Sophie has mild cataracts and slightly struggles with her eyesight. Her new family will make sure they don’t move the furniture around once a month so she can get the lay of the land. Consistency is best for her. With that being said, she is the more outgoing of the two. But, don’t let that fool you, once Hope is comfortable she loves to be held. She fits right in the crook of your arm like a warm loaf of bread!

Sophie is missing a few teeth which causes her tongue to hang out from time to time. We find this enduring and hope you do too!

The besties have been pre-scheduled for a dental cleaning that will be covered by the rescue. They are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed, and chipped.

If you are looking to make a difference in a senior dog’s life-you have found the right pair!

Hope and Sophie are currently being fostered in Coal Creek Canyon, Colorado.

No kids under 10 years old please.
